Whip up this quick Chinese sauce in no time for a delicious meal.
Ingredients:
  • 1 jar (8 oz) hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 cut-up whole chicken (3 to 3 1/2 lb)
Instructions:
  • Combine hoisin sauce, soy sauce, mustard, lemon juice, sesame oil, and ginger in a medium bowl. Set aside 1/2 cup of the mixture for later use. Place the chicken in a large resealable plastic bag and pour the remaining marinade over it. Seal the bag and let it marinate in the refrigerator for 4 hours.
  • Preheat gas or charcoal grill. Take chicken out of marinade, saving the marinade. Put chicken on grill over medium heat. Cover and grill for 25 to 30 minutes, turning often and basting with reserved marinade, until chicken juices run clear when thickest part is cut to the bone (170°F for breasts; 180°F for thighs and drumsticks).
  • Before serving the deliciously cooked chicken, generously brush it with the flavorful 1/2 cup mixture set aside earlier.
