BBQ-stuffed grilled cabbage is a guaranteed hit at any cookout.
Ingredients:
  • 1 head cabbage
  • 2 tablespoons butter, or as needed
  • 1 sweet onion (such as Vidalia®), chopped
  • 0.5 pound bacon, or more to taste
  • 1 cup barbeque sauce
  • 2 slices bacon, or as desired
Instructions:
  • Trim the bottom of the cabbage and core it.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Saute the onion, stirring occasionally, until softened, approximately 10 minutes.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the bacon until evenly browned, about 10 minutes. Drain the bacon on paper towels, saving the drippings. Chop the bacon into small pieces, then mix it with onion and barbeque sauce in a bowl.
  • Stuff the cabbage hole with a delicious mixture of onions and bacon, filling it completely. Tuck pieces of butter into the core. Lay 2 strips of bacon over the filling and secure with toothpicks.
  • Preheat the outdoor grill to medium heat and lightly oil the grate, then form a ring with aluminum foil and place it on the grill.
  • Lay the cabbage on the foil ring and roast it, brushing with bacon drippings, until tender when pierced with a fork, for 15 to 30 minutes.
