Grilled Cheese Sandwich With Sauerkraut on Rye

Irresistible rye grilled cheese with Gruyere Swiss and tangy sauerkraut.
Ingredients:
  • 2 slices dark rye bread
  • Several thin slices of aged, Gruyere Swiss cheese
  • 1/3 cup drained and heated sauerkraut
  • 2 teaspoons of butter
Instructions:
  • Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat. Butter one side of each slice of bread and place the buttered side down in the hot pan.
  • Layer cheese on a slice of bread, add heated sauerkraut, top with another bread slice.
  • After about 30 seconds, peek to ensure the cheese is starting to melt. Once it is, expertly flip the entire sandwich over to cook the other side. Toast for about a minute until the cheese melts to perfection without becoming too gooey. Remove the golden-brown sandwich from the pan and elegantly slice it in half. Enjoy!
