Elevate your appetizer game with savory figs, not just for sweets.
Ingredients:
  • 6 fresh figs
  • 75g gorgonzola cheese*, crumbled
  • 60ml (1/4 cup) olive oil
  • 16.00 gm brown sugar
  • 40ml (2 tbsp) balsamic vinegar
  • 500.00 ml picked watercress leaves*
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 200°C.
  • Make a cross-shaped cut on the top of each fig and generously top them with a heaping teaspoon of gorgonzola before arranging them in an ovenproof dish. In a small bowl, combine two tablespoons of olive oil with sugar and vinegar, whisking them together.
  • Drizzle figs with balsamic mixture and bake until cheese melts. Toss watercress with olive oil, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  • Divide the peppery watercress evenly on six plates, place a sweet fig on top of each, and finish with a drizzle of the remaining vinegar.
