Salmon fillet marinated in sweet ginger and garlic, grilled on cedar plank for an impressive main dish.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 1 cup muscovado (dark brown) sugar
  • 1 (5 inch) piece of fresh ginger root, peeled and minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 1 (3 pound) whole salmon fillet with skin
  • 1 untreated cedar plank
Instructions:
  • Combine soy sauce, muscovado sugar, minced ginger, olive oil, and garlic in a bowl. Transfer marinade to a resealable plastic bag. Add salmon, coat evenly, remove air, and seal. Refrigerate for at least overnight, or up to 2 days.
  • Soak cedar plank in water for about 30 minutes before grilling.
  • Heat up your outdoor grill to medium heat and give the grate a light coating of oil.
  • Take the salmon out of the marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dispose of the leftover marinade and place the salmon skin-side down on the cedar plank.
  • Cook the salmon with the grill cover closed until it turns opaque yet remains juicy, approximately 20 minutes. Gently take the salmon off the plank in one piece, keeping the skin on the plank.
