Transform grilled sandwiches into delectable beef sandwiches with a zesty ginger-soy sauce marinade.
Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon grated gingerroot
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 can or bottle (12 ounces) regular or nonalcoholic beer
  • 2-pound beef boneless sirloin steak, 1 to 1 1/2 inches thick
  • 8 pita fold breads (6 inches in diameter)
  • Sliced tomato, if desired
  • Grilled sliced onion, if desired
Instructions:
  • Combine honey, gingerroot, soy sauce, and beer in a shallow glass or plastic dish, or in a heavy-duty resealable plastic bag. Add beef and coat with the marinade. Cover and refrigerate, turning occasionally, for at least 4 hours but no longer than 24 hours.
  • Preheat your grill for direct heat. Take the beef out of the marinade, saving the marinade. Grill the beef over medium heat for approximately 12 minutes until it reaches medium doneness. Flip the beef halfway through and baste it regularly with the reserved marinade. Dispose of any leftover marinade.
  • Slice the beef thinly. Serve the beef in pita bread pockets with fresh tomato and onion.
