Grilled Sausages with Prunes and Bacon

Grilled bacon-wrapped sausages filled with plump prunes for a delicious sweet and savory combo.
Ingredients:
  • 6 fresh bratwurst sausages
  • 18 pitted prunes
  • 6 slices bacon
  • 12 toothpicks
  • 6 bratwurst buns
Instructions:
  • Pierce the casing of each sausage in a few spots to avoid bursting. Place sausages in a pot, cover with water, and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Simmer on medium heat for 8 minutes. Remove from pot and allow to cool.
  • Soak toothpicks in a small bowl of water for 10 minutes to prevent burning on the grill.
  • Make a lengthwise cut on the sausages. Insert 3 prunes into the cut. Wrap each sausage in bacon in a spiral shape and secure with two toothpicks. Repeat for all 6 sausages.
  • Get the outdoor grill ready by preheating it to medium-high heat.
  • Grill sausages until cooked to your liking, turning once. Serve on buns with your favorite toppings.
