Elevate tuna sandwiches with zesty ginger and orange flavors.
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame or vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon grated gingerroot or 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 4 tuna steaks, about 4 ounces each
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise or salad dressing
  • 4 kaiser or sandwich buns, split
  • Lettuce leaves
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 1/2 medium cucumber, thinly sliced
Instructions:
  • In an ungreased 8-inch square glass baking dish, combine all marinade ingredients. Set aside 1 tablespoon of marinade. Add tuna to the dish and coat it with the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes, but no more than 2 hours.
  • Prepare the grill by spraying the rack with cooking spray and heating it for direct heat. Take the tuna out of the marinade and discard the marinade. Grill the tuna covered over medium heat for about 10 minutes, flipping it once, until it flakes easily with a fork.
  • Combine 1 tablespoon of reserved marinade with mayonnaise and spread on cut sides of buns. Layer with lettuce, tuna, tomato, and cucumber in each bun.
