Smokey and spicy turkey legs, reminiscent of fair or theme park favorites.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (2 liter) bottle lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce
  • 1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 large sweet onion, sliced
  • 4 turkey legs
  • 1 tablespoon steak seasoning
Instructions:
  • Heat up your outdoor grill on high heat and lightly oil the grate.
  • Combine lemon-lime soda, sugar, hot sauce, red pepper, black pepper, and onion in a large pot. Add turkey legs and bring to a boil. Simmer for 30-45 minutes until turkey reaches 180 degrees F (80 degrees C) internal temperature.
  • Separate onion slices from the mixture, then lay them out on the grill. Next, place the turkey legs on top of the onions. Drizzle with honey and sprinkle with steak seasoning. Grill for 20 minutes, turning once, until the turkey legs develop a deliciously crispy brown crust.
