Indulgent Swiss potato gratin with layers of creamy potatoes, onions, wine-infused cream, and melty Gruyère cheese.
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons softened butter
  • 2.5 pounds potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
  • 0.75 cup white wine
  • 0.33333334326744 cup water
  • 0.75 cup heavy cream
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Generously grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with softened butter.
  • Season potato slices and chopped onions with salt and pepper. Layer 1/3 of the potato mixture in the baking dish. Add half of the Gruyère cheese, then another layer of potatoes. Sprinkle the remaining Gruyère cheese, followed by the rest of the potatoes. Combine water and wine, then pour over the potatoes. Cover the dish with aluminum foil.
  • Bake until potatoes are tender for about 1 hour 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Remove the foil, pour cream evenly over potatoes, and bake, uncovered, for an extra 15 minutes to thicken the cream and brown the top.
