Indulge in a spooky Halloween pudding made with vibrant Betty Crocker® orange gel food color and rich dark chocolate. A delightful dessert treat!
Ingredients:
  • 2 1/4 cups milk
  • 2 oz dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened dark baking cocoa
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Betty Crocker™ orange gel food color
Instructions:
  • Heat 2 cups of milk in a 2-quart heavy saucepan until boiling. Take off the heat and stir in dark chocolate with a wire whisk until smooth. Set aside.
  • Combine granulated sugar, cocoa, cornstarch, and cinnamon in a small bowl. Mix in 1/4 cup milk. Add this cocoa mixture to the melted chocolate in a saucepan, stirring until smooth. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Reduce heat and simmer for 1 minute before removing from heat.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk eggs vigorously. Gradually mix in about 1 cup of the chocolate mixture. Combine with the rest of the chocolate mixture in the saucepan. Cook on medium heat, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens and boils. Remove from heat, then add butter and vanilla. Transfer the pudding to a large bowl. Let it cool for 15 minutes, then cover the top with plastic wrap to avoid forming a skin. Refrigerate for 2 hours until chilled.
  • In a medium bowl, whip together whipping cream, powdered sugar, and food color using an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Take the pudding out of the refrigerator and beat until smooth. Gently fold the whipped cream mixture into the pudding using a rubber spatula to create a beautiful swirled effect. Enjoy immediately or chill in the refrigerator.
