Make quick, flavorful buttermilk biscuits with ham and cheese for a deliciously tender treat!
Ingredients:
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.33333334326744 cup cold butter
  • 0.66666668653488 cup shredded pepper Jack cheese
  • 0.66666668653488 cup finely diced ham
  • 1 cup buttermilk, or more as needed
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a bowl, blend flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda, and garlic powder together until well mixed.
  • Cut the cold butter into chunks and work it into the dry mixture until it resembles coarse sand, using your fingers, a fork, or a pastry cutter. Gently stir in the cheese and ham until evenly coated with the flour mixture.
  • Using a fork, incorporate 1 cup of buttermilk into the mixture. If it appears dry, gradually add small amounts of liquid until the dough just comes together, aiming for a slightly sticky consistency without being "wet."
  • Gently form dough into a ball by hand, then pat it out on a lightly floured surface to 1/2- to 3/4-inch thickness. Cut out 12 to 15 biscuits with a small biscuit cutter and place them on a baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart.
  • Bake in the oven until perfectly golden brown and cooked through in the center, for 12-15 minutes.
  • Allow the dish to cool for a moment on the baking sheet before transferring it to a platter or cooling rack. Enjoy the dish while it's still warm!
