Elevate your weekend with this deliciously creative French toast twist.
Ingredients:
  • 1 unsliced loaf white bread
  • 46.80 gm wholegrain mustard
  • 180g provolone or Swiss cheese, thinly sliced
  • 100g shaved ham
  • 2 eggs
  • 64.38 gm milk
  • 60g butter, chopped
  • 36.40 gm olive oil
Instructions:
  • Slice loaf into four 3cm-thick slices. Make a lengthwise pocket in the center of each slice without cutting all the way through. Spread mustard inside the pockets, then stuff with cheese and ham.
  • In a shallow dish, vigorously whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined. Season generously with salt and pepper.
  • 1. Preheat a non-stick frying pan or barbecue plate over medium heat, then add half of the butter and 1 tablespoon of oil, brushing the surface to coat evenly. 2. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring it's fully coated, and allow excess to drain back into the dish. 3. Cook the bread in batches for about 3 minutes on each side until golden brown, adding the remaining butter and oil as needed. 4. Slice the French toast in half crossways and serve.
