Indulge in a decadent egg-topped French toast bake for a satisfying and effortless weekend treat.
Ingredients:
  • 1 medium loaf baguette French bread, cut into 1 1/2-inch thick slices
  • 1/2 lb sliced deli ham
  • 4 oz Cheddar cheese, sliced
  • 7 eggs
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • Maple syrup, if desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F and generously coat a 13x9-inch (3-quart) baking dish with cooking spray.
  • Make a lengthwise cut in each slice of bread without cutting all the way through, then fill each cut with slices of ham and cheese.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together 3 eggs, milk, salt, and pepper. Pour the mixture into a baking dish and then place the stuffed bread in the dish. Allow it to sit for 15 minutes before baking.
  • Flip the bread and generously sprinkle more cheese on top. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until melted and golden brown.
  • Preheat the oven to broil. Toast until golden brown, about 2 to 3 minutes, with the tops positioned 3 to 5 inches away from the heat.
  • Cook the remaining eggs in a skillet to your liking, then place them on top of the French toast and drizzle with maple syrup before serving.
