Impress guests with a golden ham and cheese slab pie: layers of ham and cheese enveloped in flaky crescent roll dough, a surefire hit at any gathering.
Ingredients:
  • cooking spray
  • 2 (8 ounce) packages refrigerated crescent roll dough (such as Pillsbury®
  • 1 pound sliced Cheddar cheese
  • 1 pound sliced deli ham
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, or as desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously coat a 9x13-inch baking sheet with cooking spray.
  • Lay out 1 package of crescent roll dough on the baking sheet, ensuring seams are pinched together and dough stretches to cover the sheet. Add a generous layer of Cheddar cheese slices, followed by ham and more Cheddar cheese slices.
  • Unwrap the second package of crescent roll dough on a flat surface. Press the seams together, then gently lay it over the Cheddar cheese. Seal the edges by pressing with a fork. Make shallow cuts on the dough to let steam out while baking.
  • Combine egg and water in a bowl, whisk until smooth. Brush over dough, then sprinkle with sesame seeds, salt, and pepper.
  • Bake until perfectly golden, approximately 15 minutes, in the preheated oven.
