Hamburger milk-bar style

Indulge in a healthier take on the classic milk bar burger with fewer calories.
Ingredients:
  • 500g lean beef mince
  • 1 egg white
  • 62.50 ml chopped fresh continental parsley
  • Salt & freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 rashers rindless shortcut bacon, excess fat trimmed
  • 1 425g can baby beetroot, drained
  • 40.00 ml low-fat natural yoghurt
  • 4 hamburger buns, split
  • 4 iceberg lettuce leaves, shredded
  • 1 green cucumber, sliced
  • 4 slices light cheese (Kraft brand)
Instructions:
  • Mix together ground beef, egg white, and fresh parsley in a bowl. Add a pinch of salt and pepper for seasoning. Divide the mixture into 4 equal parts and form them into 10cm-wide patties.
  • Sear patties in a non-stick pan for 4 minutes on each side.
  • Fry bacon in the same pan for 3 minutes until crispy. Place on a paper towel to drain excess fat.
  • Pulse beetroot and yogurt in a food processor until smooth. Season to taste.
  • 1. Toast buns until golden. Layer bottom halves with lettuce, cucumber, cheese, bacon, and patty. Finish with a dollop of beetroot puree and top with remaining bun halves.
