Elevate baked sweet potatoes with a decadent Hasselback style, finished with brown sugar and pecan streusel.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 teaspoon maple syrup
  • 1 large sweet potato
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped pecans
  • 4 teaspoons all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons unsalted butter, cubed
  • 0.125 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a piping hot 400°F (200°C).
  • Lay the sweet potato on a cutting board. Position chopsticks on both sides for guidance. Slice the sweet potato into 1/8-inch-thick pieces without cutting all the way through. Place the slices in a baking pan.
  • Combine luscious melted butter with rich maple syrup, warm cinnamon, and fragrant vanilla extract. Drizzle the heavenly mixture over the sweet potato.
  • Roast until soft and golden in the preheated oven for 45-60 minutes.
  • Prepare the streusel by mixing 2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons of brown sugar, pecans, flour, butter, and salt together using your hands. Refrigerate until needed.
  • Take the sweet potato out of the oven and generously sprinkle streusel over it. Broil until the streusel becomes golden brown, which should take around 1 to 3 minutes.
