Delicious Hawaiian pork burger with ginger and green onion, topped with BBQ sauce, grilled pineapple, and ham.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1/4 cup minced green onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt (more to taste, but be careful, the BBQ sauce is salty, as is the ham)
  • Pinch black pepper
  • 4 pineapple rings, fresh or canned
  • 1/4 cup your favorite barbecue sauce
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 large lettuce leaves (use leafy lettuce)
  • 1/4 pound thinly sliced ham
Instructions:
  • Combine ground pork, green onion, allspice, salt, pepper, and ground ginger in a large bowl using your hands until just mixed; be careful not to overmix to keep the burgers tender.
  • Shape 4 equal patties with a slight indentation in the middle to prevent bulging when cooking. For added flavor, refrigerate the patties with wax paper between them before grilling.
  • Grill the patties: Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Grease the grill grates with vegetable oil. Place the pork patties on the grill, top with barbecue sauce, cover, and grill for 5-7 minutes. Flip the burgers, add more barbecue sauce, and continue cooking.
  • Grill pineapple rings: Place pineapple rings on a hot part of the grill after flipping the burgers. Grill for 3-5 minutes until nice grill marks form, then flip and grill for additional 1-2 minutes. Remove both pineapple and burgers from the grill and let them rest for 5 minutes.
  • Toast burger buns on grill: Brown the burger buns on the hot grill for 1-2 minutes while the meat rests.
  • Create your burger masterpiece by placing a bed of lettuce on the bottom bun, followed by the juicy burger patty and a drizzle of barbecue sauce. Layer on the savory ham, sweet pineapple, and top it off with the other bun. Serve immediately for a mouthwatering experience. Enjoy the fusion of flavors with every bite!
