Healthier sugar cookie icing with low-fat milk, no corn syrup; dries shiny with vibrant colors.
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 2 teaspoons low-fat milk
  • 0.25 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 dash assorted natural food coloring
Instructions:
  • Assemble all ingredients.
  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, cook white sugar and water together until the sugar is completely dissolved, creating a sweet syrup, which should take about 5 minutes.
  • Combine confectioner's sugar and milk in a small bowl, stirring until smooth. Mix in almond extract and 2 teaspoons of sugar syrup until the icing is smooth and glossy. Adjust consistency by adding more sugar syrup if needed.
  • Separate icing into bowls and customize colors as you like. Dip cookies or use a brush to paint them.
