Triple orange-infused breakfast rolls with sweet cream cheese frosting. Guaranteed high fives all around when served warm.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 0.5 cup warm water
  • 0.5 cup orange juice
  • 0.5 cup butter, melted
  • 0.25 cup instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 tablespoon orange extract
  • 5 cups bread flour, or more if needed
  • 2 tablespoons grated orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon orange extract
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 2 teaspoons orange extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk, or more as needed
Instructions:
  • Combine 1 tablespoon white sugar and the yeast with warm milk and warm water in a bowl. Allow the yeast to soften and create a creamy foam, this should take about 5 minutes. Add the egg, 1/2 cup orange juice, melted butter, vanilla pudding mix, and 1 tablespoon orange extract. Mix in 5 cups bread flour and salt, adjusting with more bread flour if needed. Once the dough comes together, transfer it to a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, for about 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Place the dough in a generously oiled bowl, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot until doubled in size, approximately 1 1/2 hours.
  • In a small bowl, blend 1/2 cup of softened butter with the vibrant orange zest and 1 teaspoon of fragrant orange extract until velvety. Set this delightful mixture aside. Proceed by greasing a baking sheet or lining it with parchment paper.
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a 24x12-inch rectangle. Evenly spread the butter mixture, then sprinkle with 3/4 cup white sugar. Roll up the dough from the long side and cut into 18 rolls. Place the rolls cut-side up on a baking sheet. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) for the perfect baking temperature.
  • Unwrap the rolls and let them rise in a cozy spot for 30 minutes.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until beautifully golden, for about 25 to 30 minutes. Let the rolls cool a bit before adding the delicious frosting.
  • Once the rolls are in the oven, blend the cream cheese and 1/2 cup of softened butter until smooth. Add confectioners' sugar and 2 teaspoons orange extract. Slowly mix in milk until the frosting is smooth and spreadable. Spread the frosting over the slightly cooled rolls.
