Award-winning fruit dessert bars made with cookie mix and pie filling, using simple pantry staples.
Ingredients:
  • 2 pouches (17.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ Sugar Cookie Mix
  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F and generously coat a 13x9-inch pan with cooking spray.
  • Combine the base ingredients in a large bowl until a soft dough forms. Press half of the dough into the bottom of the pan.
  • Smoothly spread the pie filling over the dough, then gently drop the remaining dough by teaspoonfuls over the filling.
  • Bake until beautifully golden brown for 45 to 50 minutes. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
  • Mix the glaze ingredients in a small bowl until smooth. If needed, gradually add more milk, 1 teaspoon at a time, until it reaches a drizzling consistency. Drizzle the glaze over the warm bars and cut into 6 rows by 4 rows. Store the bars covered at room temperature.
