Flavorful beef breakfast sausage with bloomed spices, perfect pork alternative after 24-hour rest in fridge.
Ingredients:
  • 2 pounds ground beef (75% to 80% lean)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons dried sage
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon dried marjoram
  • 0.125 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Instructions:
  • Add the ground beef to a spacious bowl.
  • Combine brown sugar, sage, salt, basil, black pepper, onion powder, marjoram, and red pepper flakes in a small bowl. Gently spread the mixture over the beef, using your hands to ensure even distribution. Refrigerate covered for 24 hours to let the flavors meld.
  • Shape the beef mixture into 8 delicious patties.
  • Preheat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties in batches until they are firm and no longer pink in the center, about 5 to 7 minutes per side. Ensure they reach an internal temperature of at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C) using an instant-read thermometer.
