Elevate your sushi experience with homemade pickled ginger - a refreshing palate cleanser that enhances flavors.
Ingredients:
  • 8 ounces fresh young ginger root, peeled
  • 1.5 teaspoons sea salt
  • 1 cup rice vinegar
  • 0.33333334326744 cup white sugar
Instructions:
  • Chop ginger into chunks, toss with sea salt in a bowl until coated. Allow to sit for 30 minutes before transferring to a sealed jar.
  • Combine rice vinegar and sugar in a saucepan, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil, then pour the hot mixture over ginger pieces in the jar.
  • Let the mixture cool, then cap the jar. The liquid may turn slightly pink after a couple of minutes; no worries. Refrigerate for minimum of 1 week before using.
  • Slice ginger into delicate paper-thin pieces for presentation.
