Enhance homemade pizza sauce with sweet carrots for a nutritious and kid-friendly twist.
Ingredients:
  • 1 green bell pepper, coarsely chopped - or more to taste
  • 0.25 cup coarsely chopped carrot
  • 6 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 1 (29 ounce) can tomato puree
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon dried Italian herb seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 0.5 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions:
  • Add green bell pepper, carrot, and garlic cloves to a food processor and pulse until finely chopped.
  • Add the chopped vegetables to a large saucepan. Mix in the tomato puree, crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, basil, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and let it simmer uncovered for about 30 minutes until the sauce thickens. Stir in the olive oil and let it simmer for an additional 1 to 2 minutes. This sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
