Quick and easy honey garlic sesame chicken, ready in 30 minutes. Pair with steaming white rice for a satisfying meal at home.
Ingredients:
  • 3.5 tablespoons soy sauce, divided
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2.5 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 2 teaspoons white sugar
  • 0.5 tablespoon black sesame oil
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cubed
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 2 teaspoons mustard powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons fresh minced garlic
  • 3 tablespoons potato starch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds, or to taste
Instructions:
  • In a large resealable plastic bag, mix together soy sauce, rice vinegar, olive oil, sugar, and sesame oil to create the marinade. Add cubed chicken, coat well, remove excess air, and seal the bag. Refrigerate and marinate for 30 to 60 minutes.
  • Combine water, honey, brown sugar, oyster sauce, 1 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce, mustard powder, and garlic in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat until sugar dissolves and sauce is well combined, about 3 to 5 minutes. Set aside.
  • In a shallow bowl, mix potato starch, salt, and pepper. Take the marinated chicken out and gently shake off any excess marinade; discard the rest. Coat chicken cubes evenly in the potato starch mixture, making sure all sides are covered.
  • In a large skillet, heat the remaining olive oil. Add chicken and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 2 to 3 minutes per side. Pour sauce over the chicken and toss until coated. Top with toasted sesame seeds before serving.
