Indulge in decadent homemade hot fudge sauce with chopped chocolate and cocoa powder, ready in under 10 minutes. Pairs perfectly with any ice cream scoop.
Ingredients:
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate (ideally 70%), roughly chopped
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
Instructions:
  • Prepare the base: In a medium saucepan, combine cream, brown sugar, corn syrup, and cocoa. Whisk thoroughly. Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat, then reduce to medium-low. Boil for 1 minute, whisking often to prevent burning.
  • Finish the sauce: Turn off the heat and add the chopped chocolate and butter. Stir briefly to submerge the chocolate, then let sit for 1 minute to melt. Add the vanilla, salt, and whisk until the sauce is shiny and well combined.
  • Allow the fudge sauce to cool: Transfer the sauce into two half-pint jars or one larger pint jar. Leave it uncovered to reach room temperature before sealing the jars.
  • To store: Hot fudge sauce can be kept in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. For longer storage, freeze it for a few months, but note that this may slightly alter the texture. Ensure it thaws completely before reheating.
  • To reheat hot fudge sauce: Warm the fudge gently in a double boiler, stirring often. Alternatively, microwave in 15 to 20-second intervals, stirring thoroughly each time until just warm. Avoid overheating to prevent altering the texture. If you enjoyed the recipe, please take a moment to leave a review and rating!
