Vibrant Indian-inspired chocolate cake made with Betty Crocker® white cake mix and rich hues of golden yellow and orange food coloring.
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ White Cake Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and egg whites called for on cake mix box
  • 2 oz semisweet baking chocolate, melted, cooled
  • 1/4 teaspoon golden yellow soft gel paste food color
  • 1/4 teaspoon orange soft gel paste food color
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 6-count nonstick muffin top pan with cooking spray. Prepare cake mix according to package instructions, using water, oil, and egg whites.
  • Divide the batter into 3 medium bowls. Mix melted chocolate into one bowl, yellow food color into the second, and orange food color into the third. Scoop 1 tablespoon of each color batter into each muffin top cup, starting with the chocolate batter. Cover and refrigerate any remaining batter until ready to bake. Allow the pan to cool for 15 minutes before reusing.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges turn golden brown. Allow to cool for 5 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack. Let cool entirely. Repeat with the rest of the batter to yield 12 more muffin tops.
