Create flavorful Indian tacos with chili, tomato, lettuce, and Cheddar cheese on top of crispy bannocks.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 cup water, or as needed
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, or as needed
  • 1 (15 ounce) can chili
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
Instructions:
  • Combine flour, salt, and baking powder in a bowl, then add water gradually until a dough forms. Separate the dough into 4 portions and shape each into a 6-inch patty.
  • In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Cook patties in batches until they are golden and puffed, approximately 5 minutes on each side.
  • Arrange the bannocks on plates and layer with chili, tomato, melted Cheddar cheese, and crisp lettuce.
