Make homemade potato farls with mashed potatoes, flour, butter, and salt for a tasty Irish breakfast treat.
Ingredients:
  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and halved
  • 0.25 cup all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
Instructions:
  • Assemble all the ingredients.
  • Place potatoes in a pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil over high heat, then simmer until potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork, about 20 minutes. Drain and return potatoes to the pot to dry out completely from the residual heat.
  • Achieve a silky texture by mashing with a potato masher.
  • In a medium bowl, combine warm mashed potato with flour, melted butter, and salt. Mix gently until dough forms.
  • Lightly knead the sticky dough on a floured surface. Roll it out with a floured rolling pin into a 9-inch circle, 1/4 inch thick. Cut into quarters with a floured knife.
  • Add a light dusting of flour to the skillet and pan-fry the farls until golden on both sides, approximately 3 minutes per side. Season with a touch of salt and serve immediately.
