Indulge in a delicious fusion with Italian deli meats, provolone, and toasted buttery bread in a mouthwatering Italian grilled cheese sandwich.
Ingredients:
  • For the sandwiches:
  • 8 slices sandwich bread
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 ounces Genoa salami
  • 4 ounces prosciutto
  • 2 ounces pepperoni
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, loosely packed
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • For the DAD ADD: Olive and Cauliflower Giardiniera
  • 1 cup hot pickled cauliflower, chopped
  • 1/2 cup green olives (Castelvetrano), chopped
  • 1/4 cup banana peppers
Instructions:
  • For an extra touch: Roughly chop the ingredients and combine them in a bowl. All set!
  • To assemble the sandwiches: Start with a slice of provolone on a piece of bread. Layer on salami, prosciutto, and pepperoni evenly among the four sandwiches. Add fresh basil leaves and another slice of provolone. Finish with another piece of bread and gently press to secure the sandwich.
  • Grill the cheese sandwiches: Preheat a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add 1/2 tablespoon of butter per sandwich. When the butter has melted, coat the bread with butter, then flip and coat the other side. Cook each sandwich for 3 to 4 minutes per side until the cheese is melted and the bread is toasted, about 6 to 8 minutes total. Serve the first two sandwiches and keep warm in a 200°F oven while you make the last two. Enjoy!
  • Serve the sandwiches alongside chips, salad, steamed veggies, and/or giardiniera.
