Elevate steak and veggie casserole with flavorful Italian garlic mashed potatoes.
Ingredients:
  • 1 lb boneless beef sirloin, trimmed of fat, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 cup sliced onion (about 1 medium)
  • 2 medium carrots, sliced (1 cup)
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1 1/2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 1 jar (14 oz) tomato pasta sauce (any variety) (1 1/2 cups)
  • 1 pouch (4.7 oz) Betty Crocker™ roasted garlic mashed potatoes
  • Water, milk and butter called for on potato mix pouch
  • 2 tablespoons shredded fresh Parmesan cheese
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease a 2-quart casserole dish or 11x7-inch glass baking dish. In a 12-inch nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, cook beef, onion, and carrots with seasoned salt and pepper. Stir often for 3 to 5 minutes until the beef browns.
  • Combine the mushrooms and pasta sauce in a pot and bring to a boil. Simmer over medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Transfer to a casserole dish.
  • Prepare the potatoes according to the package instructions using water, milk, and butter. Spoon them into 8 mounds around the edge of the hot beef mixture and sprinkle with cheese.
  • Bake without a lid for 25 to 30 minutes until bubbly and the potatoes have a light golden brown color.
