Quick and easy Jamaican fried dumplings, perfect with codfish for a delicious weekend breakfast.
Ingredients:
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 0.5 cup butter, cut into cubes and softened
  • 0.5 cup cold water
  • 1 cup vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
  • Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Incorporate the butter until the mixture is crumbly. Gradually add water, 1 tablespoon at a time, to create a firm dough. Knead briefly.
  • Warm up oil in a large heavy skillet over medium heat.
  • Form dough into biscuit-shaped patties. Fry dumplings in hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd, until golden brown on each side, approximately 3 minutes. Drain on paper towels before serving.
