Crispy air fryer Japanese tonkatsu served with classic katsu sauce, shredded cabbage, and steamed rice.
Ingredients:
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon avocado oil
  • salt to taste
  • 2 cups panko bread crumbs
  • 2 pounds pork sirloin chops, about 1/4-inch thick
  • avocado oil cooking spray
  • 4 cups cooked rice
  • 2 cups shredded Savoy cabbage, or to taste
  • 0.25 cup tonkatsu sauce, or as needed
Instructions:
  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) following the manufacturer's directions.
  • Combine eggs, avocado oil, and salt in a small bowl to create a flavorful mixture. Spread panko crumbs on a separate plate for coating.
  • Place a 15-inch long piece of parchment or waxed paper on a platter or cutting board.
  • Coat each pork chop in the flavorful egg mixture, letting the excess drip off, then generously coat in crispy panko crumbs. Press down gently to ensure the crumbs stick well. Arrange the coated chops neatly on the lined parchment or waxed paper. Repeat with all remaining chops until each one is perfectly double-coated in crumbs.
  • Coat each pork chop generously with cooking spray and arrange 2-3 chops in the air fryer basket, making sure not to overcrowd them.
  • Air fry the chops for 6 minutes until they are crispy. Flip them and continue cooking until they turn a beautiful golden brown color and reach an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C) when tested with an instant-read thermometer, which should take about 5 more minutes. Transfer the chops to a plate to keep them warm. Repeat the process with the rest of the chops.
  • Plate the pork chops alongside fluffy white rice, a generous serving of shredded Savoy cabbage, and a drizzle of savory tonkatsu sauce.
