Try this delicious Japanese-inspired meal: Tonkatsu Donburi - crispy pork chops and egg over rice, perfect for a cozy dinner for two.
Ingredients:
  • 0.66666668653488 cup prepared dashi stock
  • 2 teaspoons white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons mirin (Japanese sweet wine)
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 2 (3 ounce) fried breaded pork chops, sliced into long strips
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1.5 cups cooked short-grain rice
Instructions:
  • Combine the dashi, sugar, mirin, soy sauce, and salt in a small bowl.
  • 1. Heat vegetable oil in a small skillet until shimmering. Saute onion until translucent, for about 5 minutes. Pour in the dashi mixture. Carefully place pork slices on top of the onions. Gently drizzle eggs around the slices. Cover and cook until eggs are set, roughly 2 minutes.
  • Divide the rice evenly into 2 bowls. Garnish each bowl with an equal amount of onions, eggs, and pork slices.
