Indulge in a hassle-free potato fix with our irresistible Hash Brown Bake: layers of crispy store-bought hash browns, crispy bacon, and a cheesy sauce baked to perfection.
Ingredients:
  • 2 x 375g packets frozen hash browns
  • 300g middle bacon rashers, coarsely chopped
  • 50g unsalted butter
  • 50g (1/3 cup) plain flour
  • 625ml (2 1/2 cups) milk
  • 255g (2 1/2 cups) pre-grated 3 cheese blend
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 230C/210C fan forced. Place hash browns on a large baking tray and bake until golden, about 15 minutes.
  • Heat a medium non-stick frying pan over medium-high heat. Cook the bacon, stirring occasionally, for 3-4 minutes until browned. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  • Melt butter in a pan over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute. Pour in milk, whisk until smooth, and bring to a boil while whisking constantly until mixture thickens. Stir in 100g (1 cup) of cheese blend until melted. Remove from heat.
  • Layer half of the hash browns on the bottom of a 2L (8 cup) baking dish. Pour half of the sauce on top. Sprinkle half of the bacon and half of the remaining cheese. Repeat layering with the rest of the hash browns, sauce, bacon, and cheese.
  • Lower the oven temperature to 200C/180C fan forced and bake for 25-30 minutes until the sauce is bubbling and the top is golden.
