Butternut squash slices glazed with maple and rum for a vibrant and indulgent Thanksgiving side dish.
Ingredients:
  • 1 butternut squash - peeled, seeded, quartered, and cut into 1/2-inch slices
  • 0.66666668653488 cup water
  • 0.25 cup maple syrup
  • 0.25 cup dark rum
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions:
  • In a saucepan, mix together butternut squash, water, maple syrup, rum, and nutmeg. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until squash is tender, approximately 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Using a slotted spoon, delicately lift out the butternut squash from the saucepan and place it in a serving dish. Keep the flavorful liquid in the saucepan. Let the liquid simmer and reduce until thickened, about 5 to 10 minutes. Drizzle the reduced liquid over the butternut squash.
