Create a flavorful cardamom-infused side dish with just five simple ingredients.
Ingredients:
  • 2 medium carrots, sliced (1 cup)
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
  • 1 medium apple, cut into thin wedges
  • 2 tablespoons maple-flavored syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
Instructions:
  • In a saucepan, bring 1 inch of water (add salt if desired) to a boil. Add carrots, cover, and bring back to a boil; then simmer for 12 to 15 minutes until tender. Drain before serving.
  • In a 6-inch skillet, melt butter over medium heat until sizzling. Sauté apple wedges in the butter for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add syrup and cardamom, continue cooking for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring frequently until apples are coated in a glossy glaze. Mix in with the carrots.
