Ingredients:
  • 3 medium (about 750g) tuna steaks
  • 250g green beans, cut into 4cm lengths
  • 20.00 ml coarsely ground black pepper Olive oil, for greasing
  • 150g cos lettuce, washed, dried, large leaves torn
  • 250g (1 punnet) cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 80mls (1/3 cup) olive oil
  • 125mls (1/2 cup) fresh lime juice
  • 30.00 ml kecap manis (sweet Indonesian soy sauce)
Instructions:
  • Prepare the marinade by thoroughly mixing together the olive oil, lime juice, kecap manis, and honey in a jug. Set aside 80mls (1/3 cup) of the marinade. Pour the rest over the tuna steaks in a glass or ceramic dish, ensuring they are evenly coated. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse.
  • Boil the beans in a saucepan for 2 minutes until tender crisp. Drain, refresh under cold water, and drain well.
  • Separate the tuna from the marinade and dispose of the marinade.
  • Evenly coat both sides of the tuna steaks with a sprinkling of pepper.
  • Prepare the grill by brushing it with olive oil to lightly grease. Heat on high, then grill the tuna steaks for 2-2 1/2 minutes on each side until charred on the outside and still pink in the center. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
  • Toss the beans, lettuce, and tomatoes together in individual bowls. Drizzle over the reserved marinade. Gently break the tuna into bite-size pieces and add to the salad. Serve immediately.
