Impatient pups? Whip up savory homemade dog treats with any cooked ground meat.
Ingredients:
  • 2.5 cups sifted whole wheat flour
  • 0.5 cup dry milk powder
  • 1 cube beef bouillon, crumbled
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup cooked ground pork
  • 1 cup grated carrot
  • 6 tablespoons shortening
  • 0.5 cup cold water
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly oil two cookie sheets.
  • Combine whole wheat flour, milk powder, beef bouillon, and salt in a bowl. Mix in ground pork, carrot, shortening, and egg. Gradually add water until a stiff dough ball forms.
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to cut out your favorite shapes. Place cookies 2 inches apart on the baking sheets, re-rolling scraps as needed.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, until the bottoms of the cookies are nicely browned. Let them rest on the cookie sheet briefly before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
