Create adorable 'melted snowman' cookies by topping sugar cookies with icing, melted marshmallows, chocolate, and colorful icing decorations.
Ingredients:
  • 0.75 cup butter, softened
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 12 large marshmallows
  • 3 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 0.5 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 drop red food coloring, or as desired
  • 1 drop yellow food coloring, or as desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a bowl, use an electric mixer to beat butter until fluffy, about 2 minutes. Mix in white sugar, baking powder, and salt until just combined. Add egg, milk, and vanilla extract and mix well. Stir in flour until just combined. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 10 minutes until slightly chilled.
  • Shape dough into balls slightly larger than golf balls, then press down to form cookies. Place cookies on a baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until edges turn golden, for 10 to 20 minutes. Cool on baking sheet for about 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely, for at least 30 minutes.
  • Spread a thin layer of butter on a microwave-safe plate, then arrange the marshmallows on top.
  • Microwave marshmallows for 10 to 15 seconds until they puff up slightly. Then, gently press down on the marshmallows until the bottoms start to ooze just a bit.
  • Combine confectioners' sugar and water in a bowl, whisk vigorously until the icing is thicker than drizzle-consistency. Drizzle the icing over cookies, letting it cascade over the edges, while setting aside about 1 tablespoon for later.
  • Microwave chocolate chips for 30 seconds in a glass or ceramic bowl until melted. Transfer the smooth chocolate into a piping bag with a small tip or a plastic bag with a corner cut off.
  • Place a marshmallow near the edge of each cookie to create the snowman's head. Use the melted chocolate to draw 'stick arms' onto the icing.
  • Pour the 1 tablespoon of reserved icing into two separate small bowls. Stir in red food coloring into one bowl and orange food coloring into the other. Use the red icing for scarves and the yellow icing for ties to decorate the snowmen.
