Adorable chocolate cherry mice with kiss faces, cherry stem tails, almond ears, and candy eyes.
Ingredients:
  • 8 ounces chocolate confectioners' coating
  • 20 red maraschino cherries with stems
  • 3 tablespoons blanched slivered almonds
  • 20 milk chocolate candy kisses, unwrapped
  • 40 small red decorating candies (dragees)
Instructions:
  • Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
  • Cut the confectioners' coating into chunks and place them in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave the coating in 30-second intervals on High, repeating 4 to 5 times, until it is warm (not hot) and melted. Stir vigorously until smooth and lump-free. Temperature should be around 95°F (35°C).
  • Pat the cherries dry with paper towels. Dip each cherry by the stem into the chocolate coating, ensuring it reaches just the bottom of the stem. Place the cherry on its side to form the tail. While the coating is still wet, attach an unwrapped chocolate kiss to create a pointed nose. Insert two almond slivers between the kiss and cherry for ears. Use a toothpick to add two small dots of melted coating for eyes, then attach two red candies. Repeat with the remaining cherries. Let the coating set and cool for about 30 minutes before serving.
