Ingredients:
  • 1 cup (7 ounces) uncooked white rice (such as jasmine, basmati, or sushi rice), rinsed
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt, optional
Instructions:
  • Prepare the rice: Place the rice in a fine mesh strainer set over a large bowl in the sink. Rinse the rice under cold water, stirring it with your hands until the water runs clear. Now the rice is ready.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl or glass measuring cup, mix the rice, water, and salt (if using). Stir until well combined.
  • Microwave uncovered on HIGH for 9 minutes until most of the water is absorbed and the edges of the dish look dry.
  • Cover with a microwave-safe lid, plate, or plastic wrap and cook on HIGH for 4 minutes until rice is tender.
