Indulge in spooky Brain Cupcakes - featuring Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ dark chocolate cake mix and fluffy vanilla frosting, a perfect Halloween treat for your guests.
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Delights Super Moist™ Dark Chocolate Cake Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chunks (from 12-oz bag)
  • 2 tubs (12 oz) Betty Crocker™ Whipped Vanilla Frosting
  • 72 walnut halves (2 cups), toasted
  • 4 tubes (0.68 oz each) Betty Crocker™ red decorating gel
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Line 72 mini muffin cups with paper baking cups. Prepare cake mix according to package instructions using water, oil, and eggs. Spoon batter equally into muffin cups. Press 1 chocolate chunk into the center of each muffin.
  • Bake for 11 to 12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool for 5 minutes, then remove from pans onto cooling racks. Allow to cool completely for about 30 minutes.
  • Finish cupcakes with a generous layer of vanilla frosting. Add 1 walnut half on top of each cupcake. Use red gel to create brain-like patterns along the edges of the walnut halves. Store cupcakes at room temperature with a light covering.
