Molasses Spice Crinkle

Classic molasses crinkle cookies made with Gold Medal® flour - a perfect addition to your dessert spread.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 cup coarse white sparkling sugar
Instructions:
  • Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, cloves, and allspice in a medium bowl; set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream shortening using an electric mixer until fluffy. Slowly incorporate granulated sugar, beating until well combined. Mix in egg and molasses until well blended. Gradually add the flour mixture and beat on low speed until fully incorporated. Cover the bowl and chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Roll dough into 1-inch balls, then coat with sparkling sugar. Place balls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake for 9 to 11 minutes until the tops crack slightly. Transfer to cooling racks.
