Ingredients:
  • 0.75 cup butter flavored shortening
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup molasses
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
Instructions:
  • In a bowl, cream together butter flavored shortening and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and molasses, beat well. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, ground cloves, and ginger. Add the sifted ingredients to the creamed mixture and mix well.
  • Refrigerate for a minimum of 1 hour or preferably overnight to enhance flavors.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) for perfect baking results.
  • Shape the dough into 1-inch balls, coat with sugar, and place them 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes, then allow to cool slightly before removing from the pan.
