Indulge in a delightful Italian-inspired beef and provolone sandwich, reminiscent of New Orleans' iconic muffuletta, with a savory olive salad twist.
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup Italian dressing
  • 1/4 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
  • 1 lb boneless beef round steak, 1 inch thick
  • 4 hoagie buns (about 6 inches long), split
  • 1 medium tomato, thinly sliced
  • 4 slices (3/4 oz each) provolone cheese
  • 1/2 cup coarsely chopped pitted green olives
  • 1/2 cup coarsely chopped pitted ripe olives
  • 1/2 cup chopped Grilled Tricolored Bell Peppers or purchased roasted bell peppers
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon Italian dressing
Instructions:
  • Combine 1/2 cup of dressing with pepper in a shallow baking dish. Add the beef and coat it thoroughly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 8 hours, but no more than 24 hours.
  • Preheat gas or charcoal grill. Combine all olive salad ingredients in a medium bowl. Take beef out of marinade and discard marinade. Grill beef over medium heat, turning occasionally, for 10 to 12 minutes or until cooked to your liking. Cover grill while cooking.
  • Thinly slice the beef. Fill buns with a flavorful combination of olive salad, tomato, warm beef, and cheese.
