Mulberry spice pie: a quick and delightful summer dessert, ideal for a backyard BBQ. Ready in just over an hour.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (14.1 ounce) package pastry for a 9-inch double crust pie
  • 6 cups mulberries
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 0.66666668653488 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (205°C) for the perfect cooking environment.
  • Place the bottom pie crust gently into the pie plate.
  • In a bowl, combine mulberries, sugar, flour, nutmeg, allspice, and salt. Gently fold with a wooden spoon for 3 to 5 minutes until well blended. Transfer the mixture into the bottom pie crust, cover with the top crust, seal the edges, and make slits on top using a sharp knife.
  • Chill pie until edges are firm, for 10 to 20 minutes.
  • Place the pie in a preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes. Then reduce the oven temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and bake for an additional 30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
