Hearty multigrain biscuits with sunflower, flax, and sesame seeds, perfect for pairing with winter soups and stews.
Ingredients:
  • 1.25 cups multigrain flour
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 0.25 cup sunflower seeds
  • 0.25 cup flax seeds
  • 0.25 cup wheat germ
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup cold butter
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 0.25 cup sesame seeds
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  • Combine a variety of wholesome ingredients, including multi-grain flour, wheat flour, sunflower seeds, flax seeds, wheat germ, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl, and whisk together until well blended.
  • Use a cheese grater to grate cold butter into the flour mixture, then mix with a fork until it looks like coarse crumbs. Gradually add milk and mix until the dough starts coming away from the bowl's edges.
  • Transfer dough to a floured surface and gently knead until soft, about 10 turns. Shape into an 8-inch square, then cut into quarters and further into 3 rectangular pieces each.
  • Arrange the dough pieces on a baking sheet, ensuring they are evenly spaced; glaze with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds for added flavor and texture.
  • Bake until golden brown, about 12 to 15 minutes in a preheated oven.
