Delicious almond shortbread balls, a melt-in-your-mouth treat inspired by my grandfather's recipe.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon almond extract
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.33333334326744 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
  • Heat your oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  • In a medium bowl, mix together shortening, butter, and confectioners' sugar until smooth. Add vanilla and almond extracts. In another bowl, combine flour and salt, then stir into the creamed mixture.
  • Shape the dough into walnut-sized balls and arrange them 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the bottoms start to brown.
