Enhance blueberry pie with secret touch of almond extract. Pair with whipped cream or ice cream for irresistible dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (14.1 ounce) package double-crust pie pastry, thawed
  • 5 cups fresh blueberries (preferably wild)
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 0.25 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon, or more to taste
  • 0.25 teaspoon almond extract
  • 0.25 cup butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 tablespoon milk
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and line a 9-inch pie pan with 1 pie crust.
  • In a large bowl, gently mix blueberries, sugar, flour, and cinnamon until combined. Add almond extract and toss to coat the blueberries. Transfer the blueberry mixture into the prepared pie crust.
  • Place butter pieces over the blueberry mixture, then cover with the second pie crust. Seal the edges by crimping them together. Brush the top crust with milk and make slits to allow steam to escape while baking. Cover the edges of the pie with aluminum foil to prevent burning.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes until the filling bubbles and the crust is golden brown. Allow to cool before serving.
